Alumni Board of Directors
The UCAHNRA Board is a group of alumni volunteers that works to support the alumni, students, faculty and staff of CAHNR. We meet approximately every other month to discuss opportunities to support the college, and conference call participation in these meetings is available. Among other activities throughout the year, UCAHNRA funds the buffet dinner for career reps at the annual CAHNR Career Night; we meet graduating seniors at the annual Senior Sendoff; we recognize alumni, faculty and staff with awards each year; and we award student scholarships through an endowed scholarship fund. These activities have all been made possible by funds raised by the board, primarily through the UCAHNRA annual auction. We are grateful to all of our supporters and volunteers and welcome all to join our board meetings or participate in our events.
Annual UCAHNRA Auction
The UCAHNRA Auction is held annually and is our only fundraising event, and is usually held in the fall. The money raised supports our endowed scholarship, as well as events throughout the year. On the day of the event, we need help setting up and breaking down tables, chairs and displays, as well as help moving auction items around the venue.
Career Advisor Program
We are seeking volunteers to participate in our CAHNR Career Advisor Program. This program matches alumni and current students on a one-to-one basis so students can benefit from the career experience and expertise of our alumni. The program requires monthly contact, and can be accomplished through video chat, email or phone calls. The advice our alumni have for our students is invaluable as they navigate their own career paths.
Each spring, UConn Alumni Relations celebrates the seniors who will soon be members of the alumni family by throwing them a big party at the alumni building! Join us and mingle to speak with CAHNR seniors to hear their plans, wish them luck and encourage them to stay connected.
Career Night is an annual event held in early November each year. It brings together students who have an interest in agriculture, health, environment, and related fields with representatives in these fields. The event provides students with an opportunity to learn about career options in the field of study that they are pursuing or considering. Alumni can participate as career representative and speak with students about their job and their path to their current position.
